If you’re like me, you’ve fantasized about living on a boat at one time or another. The sound of waves lapping, seagulls in the early morning, and the smell of fresh air. Plus, living on a houseboat is the perfect place to be during a heatwave - being on the water is always a little cooler than on land, and if it gets too warm, you can just jump in the lake, right?

This little gem of a houseboat has been on the market for just over a week and boasts 555 square feet of living space which is just enough for two humans and maybe a small dog or a cat.

Imagine starting your day with a cup of coffee sitting on one of the decks overlooking Lake Union and the Seattle skyline, or enjoying a glass of wine as the sun goes down with the city lights in the background. Sound like a dream? Well, your dream can come true! The Haida Bird is just sitting moored, waiting for you. She’ll run you about $585,000.

There are some rules for living on a boat in Washington, so you better read up on those before you pull out the earnest money and enter into an agreement. Also, I recommend you investigate the pros and cons of houseboat living – I can’t think of any cons at the moment, but I’m sure there are a few.

This beauty has fresh paint on the outside and some incredible interior woodwork. And, if you’re concerned about durability, she has a steel hull with storage below. You’ll be close to downtown Seattle, the University of Washington, and Gas Works Park. And, on top of that, I'm sure you would acquire some new houseboat friends. The houseboat is presented by Krista Belova and brokered by Windermere Real Estate North. Keep scrolling and take a tour of this amazing floating home.

Peek Inside the Legendary Paddlewheel Boat, the Emerald Queen

It took $15 million dollars to build the Emerald Queen back in 1995 and 26 years later it’s up for sale for $4.9 million. The Emerald Queen Casino that most of us know near Tacoma actually began as the Emerald Queen Riverboat Casino that was purchased by the Puyallup Tribe and docked at the Port of Tacoma. At one time this boat was full of slot machines, blackjack tables, and casino patrons.
