Who hasn't had a UFO experience nowadays? For a while, you felt like an outlier if you were one of the "unlucky few" who hadn't had a sighting. I have had 2 sightings that I could not explain. I was even fortunate enough to snag a video of the sighting in Sunnyside, Washington.

It's no secret (unlike the government involvement in UFOs and UAPs) that Washington state is a hotbed for sightings. The fact that the term 'Flying Saucer' was coined here speaks loudly for our place in UFO history.

As if we needed more proof that the PNW is a hotspot for UFO sightings, the latest word from the National UFO Reporting Center is that Seattle is quite the hotspot!

From 2000 to 2023, there have been 112,914 sightings submitted to the National UFO Reporting Center, and from national data, people in Seattle are reporting more often!

On average, Seattle had 86.5 UFO sightings per 100,000 residents in that time frame. The national average is 34.3 sightings per 100,000 residents. One could only figure that those numbers could be higher if not for all the light pollution (lights from buildings in the night sky) distorting the natural night sky.

Lincoln County reported 402 sightings, roughly 74.6 sightings per 100,000 residents. Compared to King County (where Seattle is located), with 1993 sightings, there are roughly 88.4 sightings per 100,000 residents. (Check out AXIOS.com for more UFO sightings breakdown by county and state!)

Why do we care about UFOs so much?

It's the unknown; it's fascinating and scary at the same time. Others look at it as a type of escape. They might be surrounded by negativity here on earth, so looking to the skies for something unearthly to take all our problems away or give us a big one that can make everything else look trivial. Plus with the latest reports from governments around the world, not all the sightings can be explained! That's something to ponder.
