Memory Lane, Do You Remember Shopping at Any of These 8 WA Groovy Grocery Stores?
When I was a kid, I remember my mom taking me grocery shopping at Red Owl. Every Thursday morning, we traveled across the Mississippi River from Inver Grove Heights to Cottage Grove in Minnesota. She'd plop me in the cart and we'd do the weekly grocery shopping. Years later, Red Owl turned into an IGA.
Naturally, this got me thinking and wondering.

What grocery stores do you remember shopping at most in Washington?
We asked on Facebook and a lot of you responded. There are a lot of transplants here. The most popular grocery stores you shopped in Tri-Cities are below. Take a trip down memory lane.
Food Pavilion
There's a Food Pavilion at 530 Crossroads Square, in Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284. Doing a Google search, we get to Costcutterfoods.com.
Mayfair, which is now Red Apple
There's a Red Apple Market on Washington Street in Kennewick. It's the first supermarket I shopped at when I arrived in Tri-Cities.
A&P
The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company was an American supermarket chain that was open between 1859 to 2015. The company was founded by George Gilman. The history of A&P is fascinating.
Rosauers Supermarkets Inc.
Rosauers remains in Yakima. If you want to visit, the store is located at 410 South 72nd Avenue, Yakima, WA 98908.
Price Chopper
People replied there was a Price Chopper near the mall in Richland. I did some research and found that Price Chopper is strong in Kansas City and the metro area, with 52 stores and more than 10,000 employees today.
Waremart
It's Waremart by Winco, and it was in Kennewick, at the corner of Clearwater and Morain. Today, there are stores in Ontario and Keizer, Oregon.
Food Depot
The Prosser Food Depot remains a prominent business at 1309 Meade Avenue. It's also a division of Costcutterfoods.com.
